She looks him straight in the eye, and snarls, "I am not in denial."
He looks right back, monotone and dull as always, and whispers, "Yes, you are."
The urge to whine and cry and give up wells inside her, but she fights it and gets her winning smile (grimace) back on her face. She shrugs as innocently as she figures she can get away with, and then turns her back on him. "Bite me."
She gets half of a step made before he has his large hands around her waist, and his teeth clamping down on her neck. A strangled cry of surprise escapes her throat, and she snaps her head to the side and moves her hands to grab a hold of his hair.
Then he's done, and he whispers in her ear again, "Denial."
The door latches as he closes it after him, and she stares at the stucco wall in shock.
Kurosaki Clinic hasn't had patients for the past two days, so it is quiet when she walks in and looks around for bandages. The bite on her neck tingles under her turtleneck sweater as she glances over the antiseptic, and forgets her reason for coming in here again.
The mirror is before her in moments, and she pulls the neck down to look at the deep red mark on her left side. It throbs and reminds her that it is there every minute of the day, and she wonders if she should do something about it, or just let it be.
The doorbell rings, and she drops the mirror back into the drawer, and leaves the clinic part of the house.
He's blocking the entire doorframe when she opens up to him, and she opens it wide as if to invite him in. The bite on her neck throbs extra beats as she looks up at him, and she knows he's going to take it all back any moment now.
"I need to apologise."
Ah, it is here. Mental check of family members places them all out of the house, so she nods and gestures that he should come in. Her fingers on the knob are surprisingly steady, and she congratulates herself on acting so calm.
He walks in, and stops to stand next to the wall. She closes the door, locks it, and gives him her complete attention.
"I shouldn't have done that, and I am very sorry for acting like that."
She takes two steps, so she stands before him, and puts a snarl on. "I'm not in denial."
He opens his mouth to reply, and she jumps and pulls and puts her mouth on his in a desperate motion of pure and raw emotion. She doesn't give him a chance to react, just lean down and let her do what she wants as she claws his scalp and bites his lips.
Blood floods her tongue, and she doesn't know if it is his or if it is hers.
She lets go of him, watches him stagger back to lean against the wall, and then she lets the snarl be replaced by something that is full of real anger.
"I'm not in denial."
